Sensors Expo & Conference Rotates to West Coast for 2015 Event

      6/18/2014

Newton, MA, June 17, 2014 - Sensors Expo & Conference, the largest event gathering of sensors and sensor-integrated technology professionals in North America, announced today that the 30th annual conference and expo will be taking place June 9-11, 2015 in Long Beach, California at the Long Beach Convention Center. The 2014 event will be held next week - June 24-26 - at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois.

"As a national tradeshow, Sensors Expo's move to the West Coast is part of a long-term rotational strategy to make the event more accessible to the entire industry," said Wendy Loew, Group Event Director at Questex Media Group LLC. "Based on feedback from attendees, exhibitors, and our Advisory Council, the Sensors community is very supportive of moving to a West Coast destination. In fact, California was ranked as one of the top destinations for future events by attendees and exhibitors, and it was also among the top ranked state in terms of attendance in past years. These data points further reinforce that Sensors is going where the market is headed."

California has always been known as an "incubator" of new ideas, new products and entrepreneurial spirit, and with Sensor's move to the area, the event hopes to capitalize on this energy, delivering yet another spectacular year for attendees and vendors. Further, the move puts the event in a better position to cater to international markets, and epicenters for major industries, such as consumer electronics, entertainment, aerospace, defense/military, medical/healthcare, Internet of Things, and High-Tech.

Hosting this industry-leading event is the Long Beach Convention Center, a spectacular complex with exclusive waterfront facilities, featuring more than 400,000 square feet of flexible exhibit and meeting space, two theaters, an arena and 34 meeting rooms. The glass concourse and lobby offer expansive views of the scenic harbor and downtown skyline, boasting a pedestrian promenade that links hotels, shops, restaurants and attractions with the Pacific Ocean - ensuring attendees can take advantage of all that SoCal has to offer.

Attendees and vendors have reacted positively to the news of the move. Tito Rodriguez, Director of Corporate Marketing, PCB Piezotronics, said "While the event in Chicago has been great, we are excited to be responsive to the needs of West Coast customers and prospects. Rotating the show will help us reach key customers on the West Coast who haven't been able to travel to Chicago.

Carrie Diforio, Marketing Communications Specialist, Analog Devices, said, "We have offices in California and have a lot of customers on the West Coast and think that rotating the location of the Sensors Expo is a very positive move for this leading industry event. We look forward to showcasing our latest products and solutions in Rosemont next week and then in Long Beach in 2015."

"We've been a proud exhibitor and partner of Sensors Expo for many years and are excited to move next year to the West Coast, which is a hometown to many of our partners and members in MEMS and sensors," said, Karen Lightman, Executive Director of MEMS Industry Group (MIG), the trade association advancing micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) across global markets.

This year's Sensors Expo will bring together over 4,000 engineers, scientists and industry professionals from around the world to see the latest innovations in sensing technology. The event will offer several featured areas on the Expo Floor, including the Sensors Magazine Live Theater, IPSO Challenge 2014, the HPCC Pavilion, the Mouser Electronic Pavilion, the MEMS Pavilion & Innovation Area, the Energy Harvesting Pavilion, the M2M & Wireless Pavilion as well as a New Product Showcase, Best of Sensors Expo Awards Ceremony and a NEW Bluetooth® Scavenger Hunt sponsored by EM Microelectronic.

In the conference sessions, attendees will be able to explore the most up-to-date innovations and applications in sensors technology including Chemical & Gas Sensing, Energy Harvesting for Sensor Applications, IoT: Internet of Things, M2M, MEMS, Novel Approaches to Measurement & Detection, Power Management for Sensors Applications, Sensors@Work and Wireless.
