Arburg at the Fakuma: something for everyone

Arburg will once again have a high-profile presence at this year's Fakuma, with a two storey exhibition stand in Hall A3. The focus of the trade fair appearance will be on the "50 years of Allrounder" anniversary and the Edrive series, which extends Arburg's electric machine range. A total of nine exhibits will demonstrate a host of innovative applications, providing impressive proof of the performance of Arburg products with regard to the efficient production of moulded parts.
"In addition to the K, the Fakuma is always the most important exhibition of the year for us," explains Michael Hehl, Managing Partner and Spokesperson for the Arburg Management Team, describing the importance of this international industry event. "That is why, this year, we are not just presenting our latest developments and a representative cross-section of our product range with innovative applications. We will also be celebrating the highlight of this year's '50 years of Allrounder' anniversary in Friedrichshafen, demonstrating the key advantages that the Allrounder philosophy continues to offer customers today." Accordingly, there will also be a very special anniversary surprise, starting in September.
Five decades of the Allrounder success story
During the Fakuma, there will be a special exhibition area on the stand dedicated to "50 years of Allrounder", which focuses on the key event: the invention of the Allrounder principle in 1961 by Karl Hehl that revolutionised conventional ideas concerning injection moulding and laid the foundations for the flexibility of today's Arburg machines. This milestone involved the separation of the injection moulding machine into a pivoting clamping unit and an interchangeable injection unit. This meant that one injection moulding machine could assume a variety of working positions. Over the years, the unique modularity of the Allrounder injection moulding machines has developed from this. Whereas in 1961, the Allrounder was a single machine for all applications, today, thanks to the modular principle, the ideal Allrounder can be individually configured for any application. "The success story of the Allrounder over five decades is an economic miracle - both for our customers and for us," says Michael Hehl.
Efficient production continues to gain importance
"Our company maxim, ?Arburg for efficient injection moulding' is reflected in all aspects of our presence at the Fakuma," states Michael Hehl. Because Arburg takes a holistic view of ?efficient production', a multifaceted topic, which plays a key role in energy efficiency that goes far beyond the machine sector, the company has decided to use a separate stand to present this topic at the Fakuma.
The wide range of applications underlines the potential of Allrounders in providing efficient injection moulding and the expertise that Arburg has in all areas of the injection moulding sector. This involves multi-component technology, LSR processing, medical technology and the production of sophisticated hybrid components, automotive products and packaging. These will be produced on electric, hybrid and hydraulic Allrounders, horizontal and vertical machines and with complex production cells.
The Edrive electric series provides the perfect complement
The emphasis in the machine sector is on the Allrounder Edrive series, which further expanded Arburg's electric machine range this year. The complete range of machines will be on display: from the smallest member of the Edrive series, the Allrounder 370 E with a clamping force of 600 kN and a size 170 injection unit, to the largest machine, the Allrounder 570 E with a clamping force of 2,000 kN and a size 800 injection unit.
As far as performance characteristics and drive configuration are concerned, the electric Edrive machines are designed to cover a broad range of applications, not just the highest level of performance, as this area is already comprehensively catered for by the electric Alldrive series and the hybrid Hidrive series. The new electric machines enable economical, cost-effective entry into the world of Arburg electric machines and are an alternative to conventional basic hydraulic machines. The Allrounder E machines offer advantages in terms of cycle times, thanks to the rapid and simultaneous execution of the most important machine movements and in terms of energy efficiency. On all electric Arburg machines, the high efficiency of the servo-electric drives and the toggle-type clamping unit ensure extremely energy-efficient operation. Servo motor energy recovery during braking also has a beneficial effect on the machines' overall energy consumption. Together, these factors combine to reduce energy consumption by 25 to 50% in comparison with standard hydraulic machines. Thus, the new Allrounder E machines bear the Arburg "e²" energy-efficiency label to indicate their optimum energy efficiency.
"The first Edrive machines are already in use and are already successfully meeting expectations. This shows us that the new series is the perfect addition to our product range and that, thanks to our Allrounders, we are ideally positioned to continue the success story of the last 50 years," says Michael Hehl, looking forward positively to the future.
