New Central Dryer and Factory Acquisition Control System Enables Venture Plastics To Reduce Energy Use By 40%

Venture Plastics, Inc. --- a full-service, ISO/TS-16949 certified custom thermoplastic injection molder with processing facilities in Newton Falls and Middlefield, Ohio and El Paso, Texas --- has dramatically reduced its overall energy consumption through implementation of a Novatec central dryer in tandem with a Factory Acquisition Control System (FACS) from UnaDyn.

The new NovaWheel™ PowerGuard ™ NWPG Series Dryer is an innovative drying system that enables Venture Plastics to significantly reduce its equipment footprint, maintenance expenses and, most importantly, base utility costs. Adaptive controls, combined with regeneration optimization, ensure process consistency, reduce energy usage and eliminate the need for operator intervention. Since installing the new dryer Venture Plastics has benefitted from energy savings of 40%.

Additionally, Venture Plastics has upgraded to a new central loading system.

The UnaDyn Factory Acquisition Control System (FACS) is a Windows®-based, plant-wide distributed control and monitoring system. Through process chain analysis and verification Venture Plastics can set-up, monitor and record set points and equipment performance; plus define material flow paths and equipment selection with a single command. FACS has full graphing capabilities and a built-in SQL Database to process all of Venture Plastics information and store it with a complete set of reports. This capability provides Venture Plastics the ability to control and monitor its entire plant material handling, drying and blending systems. Moreover, Venture Plastics can easily modify parameters to improve product or system performance and efficiency.

Since its founding, 43 years ago, Venture Plastics has grown dramatically and today provides manufacturing services that include injection molding and structural foam molding, over-molding, insert molding, and gas-assist molding --- all backed by engineering and design support and project management. Value-added processes include a wide variety of assembly, painting and decorating, and packaging expertise. Between its three facilities Venture Plastics offers a wide range of injection molding machines (55 ton to 725 ton), giving it the capability of serving a diversified customer base that includes, but is not limited to, the major markets of industrial/consumer, major appliance, truck/agriculture, automotive, fuel delivery, and communications.
