In France, it is nicknamed "the Little Queen". And this Little Queen is doing fine in the country which brought us the mythical "Tour de France"! Both cycles for competition and for leisure will be on hand at the Taipei International Cycle Show, opening next March 20th. Twelve French manufacturers, most of them leaders in their sector, will be brought together at the pavilion organised by UBIFRANCE, the French International Business Development Agency.
As the second-ranking tradeshow devoted to the cycle industry, the Taipei International Cycle Show has become a foremost event and is growing in leaps and bounds. In 2012, 6,500 business visitors from 88 countries came to see 1,092 exhibitors of 36 nationalities. Those are impressive figures in a dynamic, highly innovative sector which not only adapts to changes in lifestyle, but can even anticipate them.
In France, the cycle market is experiencing 6% annual growth, selling 3.2 million cycles yearly for a EUR 1.35b turnover. 22% of that production goes to export. Given the constant rise in petrol prices and proliferating traffic jams, bikes are becoming a favourite mode of urban transport. The proportion of French people using a bike on a daily basis now stands at 4.7%, while there were only 3% ten years ago. Municipal schemes providing bicycles to the general public are becoming widespread. Following a breakthrough trend for electric bikes, the inclination is now for folding bikes. For their part, professionals and informed enthusiasts favour over-equipped bikes. Current innovations tend to focus on lighter, more resistant materials.
French companies will take advantage of the tradeshow to introduce their latest technology:
Specialised in high-performance carbon wheels and frames and purveyors to the world's cycling elite, CORIMA has focused all of its efforts on its Aero + MCC and Winium + MCC wheels, ultra-light devices featuring 12 all-carbon spokes front and back. www.corima.com

Among other things, the Council's objective is to defend their business interests, to help in their promotion and to take part in defining standards and regulations. www.tousavelo.com
