Hexagon Metrology presenting the future of measuring technology

      5/8/2014

Hexagon Metrology's solution-oriented way of thinking goes beyond the extraordinary. This is precisely the focus of this year's Control trade fair.

Hexagon Metrology will be demonstrating the potential of 3D coordinate measuring technology at their 500+ sqm stand at the Control trade fair in Stuttgart, Germany. At Stand 5302 in Hall 5, Hexagon Metrology will be presenting the future of industrial measuring technology, in addition to several never-before-seen innovations.

The focus of Control will be on the latest addition to the Shop-Floor family of products: TIGO SF. This new measuring device was designed specifically for use in manufacturing and is the ideal measurement solution for many small- to medium-sized precision parts from every branch of industry. On the software side, the PC-DMIS Touch Software specially developed for touch screens and operating systems of the latest generation is used. Also regarding Shop-Floor, Hexagon Metrology will be presenting the new Leitz SIRIO Xi, which is characterised by low life-cycle costs, among other things. It has an extremely robust design that can be quickly and easily set up or moved. The new 360º Smart Inline Measurement Solution (SIMS), which is a new automated measurement solution for integration into automobile production lines, will also be on display at the Control fair.

The Leitz PMM-C with the new optical HP-O sensor will also be showcased. Thanks to this new optical technology, the measurement throughput of the high-precision Leitz PMM-C is further increased. This sensor also simplifies and accelerates the measurement of large workpieces and rotationally symmetrical parts. Hexagon Metrology will also be presenting their new proprietary sensor designs for the first time, which have been revised and rebranded. The new HH-A-T2.5 and HH-A-H2.5 automatic measuring heads feature lots of innovations, including a fully integrated controller, capacitive collision protection and the newly developed extremely heavy-duty kinematic mount. Both measuring heads are also characterised by a fully redesigned drive system including Hirth toothing and a very high torque. This enables an extremely high number of positions to be reached in increments of 2.5º with extensions up to 750 mm.

And what can't be measured with the stationary coordinate measuring devices can be tackled with the portable 3D measuring devices. With the cordless hand-guided Leica B-Probe measuring probe, Hexagon Metrology is presenting the perfect entry point into mobile measuring technology and expanding the application options of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT402. Another first for presentation to the public will be the new Leica T-Scan 5, the fastest scanner ever. For recurring measuring tasks, the Leica T-Scan 5 can also be combined with a robot. The latest generation of portable measuring arms will also be on display at Control. Thanks to its new handle, which makes operation easier and generates immediate acoustic and haptic feedback, the ROMER Absolute Arm now offers even greater user comfort.

As for white-light technology, Hexagon Metrology will be presenting the new WLS qFLASH 3D measuring system. With it, high-performance white-light solutions not only become more mobile, but more affordable as well. The WLS qFLASH is ideal for the measurement of plastic parts and small sheet-metal and cast parts as well.

In the multi-sensor area, Hexagon Metrology will be exhibiting the Optiv Performance 443, which combines contactless and tactile measurement methods in a single unit and can also be outfitted with the new Dual Z-Design from Hexagon Metrology. The Dual Z-Design involves two vertical Z-axes which can be moved independently of one another. The diverse combination options of the sensors enable complete measurement of the objects without reclamping or even changing the test device.

At the Control trade fair, TESA will also be presenting the new TLC-TWIN transceiver for hand-guided measuring devices which transmits measurement data from a vernier calliper to a computer at the push of a button without a cable. Thanks to its unique bi-directional WLAN protocol, the computer detects that data have been received and sends a classification of the measurement value to the LCD display of the vernier calliper.

Visitors can find out more about the latest measurement solutions at Stand 5302 in Hall 5. The broad range of services offered by Hexagon Metrology will be presented at Stand 5206 in Hall 5.
